Why Should I Hire a Sleep Consultant for my Child?
Updated: Jan 8
When you hear the phrase “sleep training” for children or babies what comes to mind? Negative feelings? Harsh methods? Crying and stress ? Leave my baby to CRY, ALONE for hours by themselves?!?
Not exactly. Sleep Training is a phrase used to describe the act of teaching your baby or child to fall asleep independently. Do all babies need to be taught this? No, but most do and each child has his or her own quirks -- a motion junky, a suck-to-sleep need, or a toddler that sneaks into your bed in the middle of the night. For some parents they are perfectly content to rock, nurse, or bedshare for the foreseeable future. However, at some point it becomes unsustainable.
Are you exhausted? Does the sheer thought of reading a book or tirelessly searching the internet for sleep help seem daunting? Then look no further! I am Megan and the founder of Slumber Feed, LLC. My mission is to help exhausted families get the sleep they need and deserve!
There are many ways to help your child learn the gift of falling asleep independently. Whether it is putting your baby down while he or she is awake but drowsy, or a wide awake toddler I am here to help you figure out what your crux is and get you through it. Is your baby being swaddled? Do you use white noise? Do you have a solid bedtime routine? These are just a few things we will discuss during our time together.
With that being said, just understand that no matter how “gentle” the sleep training method you choose, your baby will still shed some tears. However, rest assured that your baby is not upset because he or she feels abandoned. If you have given them food, a dry diaper, and a safe place to sleep then you know they are not neglected. Your baby is crying merely because they are protesting their new situation.
What do I mean when I say they are crying out of protest?
Crying is a baby’s or toddler's way of communicating, and the majority of their tearful protests come from changes in routine! Helping your child learn how to fall asleep is incredibly overwhelming and that’s why I would love to help you and your family reach your unique goals!
